Please note participants MUST first complete module 1 independently (takes approx. 2 hrs. to complete) prior to attending the two scheduled training dates. There is no exception to this.
Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is the support provided to a person who may be experiencing a decline in their mental well-being or may be experiencing a mental health crisis.
Course participants will learn how to:
- Recognize signs that a person may be experiencing a decline in their mental well-being
- How to have a conversation that encourages a person to: talk about declines in their mental well-being, discuss professional and other supports that could help with recovery to improved mental well-being, reach out to appropriate and professional supports,
- Assist in mental health or substance use crisis
- Use MHFA actions to maintain one’s own mental well-being
Please note that there will be no refunds issued for missed training, this includes once the activation code has been sent to the participants. If you are unable to attend the scheduled training, participants can register for a different training date in lieu of a refund.
MHFA Basic is intended for adults (18 years and older). This course focuses on the four most common mental health disorders including substance related, mood related, anxiety and trauma related, and psychotic disorders. Participants who take this course are well prepared to interact confidently about mental health with their family, friends, communities, and workplaces.
