When I think about all the incredible things I am working on I can’t help but get a rush of emotions that include excitement, gratitude, anticipation and yes…even some fear. Before I share with you what I am working on, let me share how I got here.
At the age of 16 years old I went through some very dark and difficult times. It was a time in my life when I felt alone, lost and unseen. This time led me to some very desperate actions. Hopelessness, helplessness and despair were paralyzing emotions that I was willing to do anything to make stop.
Thankfully, I began seeing a remarkable therapist who changed my life. Joan was one of the first people in my life to make me feel seen, heard, and understood. She created and held a safe space for me, without judgement, without trying to fix things or telling me what I should do. From this place I was able to begin the work I needed to start to heal, an evolving healing journey I continue on today.
It was from this moment that I knew I wanted to do for others what Joan had done for me. I began my post-secondary journey and initiation into the human services field almost 30 years ago. I have had the incredible honor of walking along side people in their healing journeys. I can only hope I have created that same experience for them as Joan had for me.
Following this path led me to phenomenal career opportunities in areas of focus I would have never imagined. Along my career trek, I found my true calling and purpose in life, to teach, facilitate, guide, nurture insight and growth. I get the biggest dopamine hit when I see someone have that AHHA MOMENT!
Sharing my knowledge and life experiences while creating a safe space for learners to learn and grow is such an incredible experience and I am so grateful to be able to do every day.
My mission is to educate and empower others about self-regulation, well being and healing. I trust in the divine timing of my life which has led me to this moment to share my story in hopes of helping others heal on a much larger scale than one to one or in a training room.
I am dreaming big and putting it all out there and holy shit is that scary but thrilling all at the same time. We don’t grow in our comfort zone and when we push through the fear amazing, spectacular, life changing things lie on the other side.
I am in the process of writing a book titled From Trauma to Triumph and What Lies Between. I hope my story, along with the latest research, will inspire, encourage and guide the reader through their own trauma stories to reach, recognize and celebrate their triumphs along the way.
See you on the other side!
