Over the past few months, my life has been filled with significant milestones: the release of my first book, stepping confidently into the speaking world, and even winning an award. My book launch was a success beyond my hopes, reaching #2 on Amazon by the second day of its release. It’s been a whirlwind of hard work, resilience, and pure gratitude, yet through it all, one question keeps returning to my mind: do I inspire, or is it simply admiration for these accomplishments?
I hear it often, and each time, it humbles me deeply—“You’re such an inspiration!” It’s a beautiful thing to hear, a gift, even. But I often wonder about the deeper meaning behind it. Admiration and inspiration are powerful forces, yet they ignite different reactions. I strive to inspire, to fill others with the urge or the ability to act, think differently, or dream bigger. Inspiration should be a spark, a call to something beyond just observing. In contrast, admiration—though deeply respectful and appreciative—often involves a sense of awe or respect without necessarily prompting change.
Admiration is wonderful. It’s recognizing achievements, qualities, or moments that resonate as meaningful or impressive. But inspiration is what I hope to spark in others. Inspiration, unlike admiration, reaches beyond the surface and touches a part of us that stirs action. It’s when someone feels not only moved but also motivated, perhaps to overcome their own challenges, try something new, or envision themselves in ways they hadn’t before.
My intention, whether through speaking, training, coaching, or my book, has always been to inspire. My journey has taught me that there is greatness within everyone—often waiting just beyond the edge of our comfort zones. So, if you find yourself admiring my journey, I invite you to take it a step further. Let that admiration transform into inspiration, to find the courage to pursue whatever it is that sets your soul on fire.
